Design of Control Centres: the approach of vhp ergonomics

vhp ergonomics has specialized in the ergonomics of command and control centres. In these projects we make designs for:

• The organisation and the work processes in standard situations and at big incidents or calamities.
• The lay out of the rooms.
• Special furniture (particularly control tables) and standard furniture.
• Information presentation e.g. on videowalls.
• Computers (hardware and software including special designs).
• Communication equipment.
• Climate and lighting installations.

We have developed a standard approach or work method specifically for these type of projects. An efficient project implementation is guaranteed. The method follows the standard design phases:

• At first the project organisation and the goals to be reached are determined.
• Secondly several analyses are carried out to determine a picture of the future situation.
• Then this is translated into a Set of Requirements. We can make use of the many Standard Sets of Requirements we have available.
• The Set of Requirements is developed into a Provisional Design and a Definite Design and Tender document.
• And if required we can go further: alternative contracts such as "design and construct" or "turn-key" belong to the possibilities.
